Eliza Soule Evans

Eliza Soule Evans spent much of her youth running dog teams and exploring the wilderness in Aniak, Alaska. Growing up in rural Alaska instilled in her a great respect for cultural diversity and a profound interest in cultural studies and positive youth development. Eliza currently lives in Washington State, though most of her work remains within Alaska.

Eliza’s interest in cultural studies has led her to Cuba, the former Soviet Union, seven European countries, New Zealand, Turkey, and Nepal. Her efforts to encourage positive youth development led her to serve as the education director of a children's theatre, an adjunct professor of theatre/speech, a community engagement educator/youth advocate, and a program director for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Eventually, supporting the missions of non-profit organizations led Eliza to begin E² Consulting through which she assists non-profits through grant writing, funding research, and workshop facilitation. She has maintained a 100% success rate throughout her grant writing career with many proposals ranked in the top 10% of proposals received. She has developed and facilitated workshops for many organizations including the Alaska Initiative for Community Engagement, the Mayor’s Task Force on Youth (Juneau, AK), Rose Urban Rural Exchange, and the statewide Alaska Suicide Prevention Coordinators Conference.

The following are a few quotes from Eliza’s clients and colleagues:

“In the 15 years I've been working with grant writers, my experience with Ms. Evans was by far the most rewarding. Not only do our proposals get funded, but her organizational abilities, calm and confident manner, and ability to lead the process without stressing out our team makes it a pleasure to work with her. …I request her services every chance I get.”

-Susan Ohmer, LCSW, CDCI, Executive Director
Petersburg Mental Health Services, Inc.

“Seldom have I met an individual as versatile, dedicated, and consistently pleasant as Ms. Evans. Not only is she a superb writer, but she also has an amazing ability to inspire people, organize ideas, and drill down to the core of an issue.

…Perhaps Eliza’s greatest strength, though, is her ability to find the heart of any idea and weave that story into a proposal. Her proposals got noticed – and funded – because she skillfully developed the narrative to attract attention.”

-Mary McRae Miller, Professional Education Center Grants Coordinator
University of Alaska Southeast
Former CEO of Alaska Funding Exchange

“In my over twenty years in the work force, I must say that I have never met a harder worker than Eliza. She has that valued combination of both devotion to her craft and skill in her work.

Eliza works tirelessly and selflessly to write and coordinate grant proposals often under very tight deadlines. …In spite of the extremely short deadline and challenges faced with coordinating information from six different agencies, our proposal scored the highest in the state of Alaska out of the over forty proposals submitted.

The above result is not unusual for Eliza’s grant proposals. They are timely and they are always of the highest quality. Her ability to work with clients and funders under often stressful situations with tact and efficiency make Eliza my first choice as a grant writer.”
