Donna Rae Faulkner
Nexus Educational Services

Donna Rae Faulkner is a spirited adventurer who is joyfully living, learning and teaching with creativity, wisdom, and compassion.  She lives in Homer, Alaska with her husband, Don “The Iceman” McNamara (a surfing carpenter).  She earned a Masters of Education and brings years of experience with youth-centered education in the U.S. and Canada.  Donna Rae loves facilitating participatory intergenerational, youth, and adult workshops in a wide variety of settings – from public/private school settings to village tribal council community buildings, in the outdoors or commercial building conference rooms or retreat centers.  Having been a public and alternative school teacher, Donna Rae relates well with faculty and students.  Listening to and collaborating with community members – including youth – to build on strengths, achieve goals and create healthier communities where everyone can thrive is where it is at for Donna Rae.  Alaska native cultures and those living in villages hold a special place in her heart. Fostering understanding and respect through customizing unique workshops to achieve a community’s specific goals is done through play and constructive dialogue. Donna Rae’s extensive experience in using tools and approaches like that of the Public Conversations Project, the Developmental Assets Framework, and cooperative learning can support a community in coming together to create powerful, lasting results. As Nexus Educational Services and part of the Smallstones Network, Donna Rae is an empowering influence in the lives of those she touches.
